Ode to my spiritual counterpart - Twin Flame
R&B/Soul singer and songwriter Senani is setting her sights on reaching out to the world as she unveils a brand-new collection of exceptionally produced songs on her latest album ‘Music of the Mirror’, due to be released in late 2025.
The album was inspired by and is an ode to her spiritual counterpart (or ‘Twin Flame’) and was written over 18 months from late-2023. Senani describes the album as an eclectic reflective mix of genres from R&B / Soul to Pop / Funk to Alternative Neo-Soul, with a recurring theme, one of Love and Unity.
All of the songs were written, produced and arranged by Senani. She also plays keys and is the lead vocalist on every song on the new album. The album’s first song, 'In the Flow', came to Senani as she walked along a beach at Byron Bay (where she lived for three years performing with her band). Ever since, a process of channeling through dreams and higher inspiration, has seen the rest of the album conceived.
Working with Senani on ‘Music of the Mirror’ were renowned musicians including guitarists Eric Rasmussen (ex-Heat Wave), Andro Martinez (Martinez Akustica) and Sean Carey (ex-Thirsty Merc), Keyboardist Beau Golden (The Voice), Bass player Adam Ventoura, drummers Steve Lamante (the musical Hamilton) and Peter Atkins, Horn players Nick Garbett and Mark Taylor and percussionist Jess Ciampa.
‘Music of the Mirror’ is Senani’s second full album. Previously she released Infinity featuring well-received songs such as Free and Voodoo Girl.
Infinity’s lead single Free achieved worldwide success, reaching Number One on the Yes FM 101 home grown charts in Sri Lanka (remaining there for six weeks) and soaring into the Top 20 in the UK Music Week dance charts. It was also nominated for a Hollywood Music in Media Award in the R&B / Soul category.
The singles, ‘Say You Love Me’, ‘I Am Gone’, ‘Free’ and ‘Voodoo Girl’ all received radio airplay across Australia and favourable reviews in the music media, while her music videos for the last two singles amassed tens of thousands of views on YouTube.
“When I create, I receive music from another dimension. It’s a spiritual process in which I am just a channel, delivering, bypassing the mind and flowing through my heart space. ♥ ”

Senani - Leader of an Army
BACK STORY
‘Leader of an Army’ is the literal translation of Senani’s name and is in keeping with her self-belief and ambition to bring her original music to the world.
Senani’s songs reflect her passion for the music that has always inspired her. She’s an artist with international appeal, reflecting her Sri Lankan background, growing up in Australia and living for a short time in the USA.
Born in Sri Lanka and coming from an entertainment family, (her mother is well known actress, singer and dancer Jeevarani Kurukulasuriya), Senani was exposed to music from a young age. You can hear hints of Eastern exotica in her music, (traditional Sri Lankan and Indian echoes), alongside influences from the artists she’s always admired. Yet always there remains a deep spirituality lying at her core. In every possible way, Senani is all about Soul.
“I sometimes wake up at 3 a.m. with an idea in my head and then the music and lyrics just start flowing through me, as if I’m channelling them,” says Senani. “I’m not consciously thinking about the next rhyme – it just manifests.”
She lists the great Motown artists and the Jazz / Blues stylings of Billie Holiday as early influences, is a forever fan of Michael Jackson, but also sites Sade, Aaliyah, Erykah Badu and several more contemporary Neo-Soul artists among her inspirations. Senani has made it her mission to continue following her passion and presenting her original music to a global audience.
